Why Microneedling Is One of the Most Popular Skin Treatments for Men

If you haven’t noticed already, male skincare has changed dramatically over the past few years. Over 20% of aesthetic treatments are now male clients.

More men are now investing in treatments that improve skin quality naturally — without looking artificial, overdone, or obvious.

One treatment leading that shift is microneedling.

Originally seen as a niche aesthetic procedure, microneedling has rapidly become one of the most requested treatments for:

  • Acne scars

  • Enlarged pores

  • Uneven texture

  • Fine lines

  • Tired-looking skin

  • General skin rejuvenation

The reason is simple: it focuses on improving the quality and function of the skin itself.

Why Men Are Turning Towards “Preventative” Aesthetics

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, uses controlled micro-injuries to stimulate the skin’s natural healing response, which encourages:

  • Collagen production

  • Skin regeneration and Improved texture

Rather than masking skin concerns, microneedling encourages the skin to repair and renew itself over time. That is why it has become increasingly popular among men looking for more natural, long-term improvements.

One of the biggest trends in aesthetics right now is the shift away from dramatic cosmetic changes and toward preventative skin maintenance.

Many men now want:

  • Healthier skin

  • Better texture

  • Fresher appearance

  • Reduced acne scarring

  • Long-term ageing prevention

without looking noticeably “treated,” and microneedling fits perfectly into that category.

The results are progressive, subtle, and focused on skin quality rather than altering facial features.

The “Skin Longevity” Trend

Another major trend emerging in aesthetics is skin longevity. Some of you may have heard of Brian Johnson, and weather your’e a fan of his work or not, he’s really setting the bar for us all.

So, now that we know better and science is really changing this, instead of waiting for ageing concerns to become severe, more people are focusing on maintaining skin quality earlier.

This includes:

  • First, a professional skin analysis

  • Collagen stimulation

  • SPF use (Protection)

  • Preventive skincare

  • Non-invasive treatments

Microneedling has become central to this movement because collagen naturally declines with age.

By stimulating collagen production earlier, the skin often maintains:

  • Better firmness

  • Improved elasticity

  • Healthier texture

  • Stronger overall appearance

for longer.

Why Microneedling Appeals to Men

From experience, many male clients prefer treatments that:

  • Require minimal downtime

  • Deliver natural results

  • Improve multiple concerns at once

  • Support confidence without obvious cosmetic changes

Microneedling ticks all of those boxes.

Most clients experience temporary redness for a short period after treatment, but the overall recovery is relatively manageable compared to more aggressive resurfacing procedures.

Typical results after a microneedling treatment. This is healthy and what you would want to see, rest assured.

Is Microneedling Worth It?

The answer depends on expectations.

Microneedling is not designed to create an overnight transformation after one session.

Instead, it works best as part of a structured skin plan focused on:

  • Consistency

  • Skin health

  • Long-term collagen support

  • Progressive improvement

For many men, that approach is far more sustainable — and more natural-looking — than chasing quick fixes. I have also shaved treatment times; most clinics will keep you in the seat for 90 minutes. I, however, will have you in and out in 30-40 minutes, which is a sufficient amount of time.

Anything from my 20-year career in health, wellness, fitness and aesthetics, I would not recommend or champion if I didn’t agree. Below is a recent image of me, age 40. I have had a handful of microneedling treatments, a good skin care routine and the use of Salmon DNA exosomes and peptides - I’ll let you make your own mind up.
