About Ed — The Story Behind MAPT

My Personal Journey: From Hair Insecurities to Aesthetics Mastery

For years, I struggled with my hair, starting with a naturally high widow’s peak that gradually evolved into slow recession over time. At the time, I didn’t fully understand how to manage or slow the process effectively.

I was later introduced to medication, which can be effective in stabilising hair loss, but also comes with potential side effects and isn’t always suitable for long-term use or every individual. I then sought a hair transplant surgeon, but understanding that while this does solve my hairline issue, I will still need further maintenance and support. This led me to look for a more balanced, sustainable and natural approach to supporting scalp and hair health, focusing on prevention, maintenance, and overall scalp condition as part of a long-term strategy.

My body journey was equally transformative. I wanted to build more muscle, so I immersed myself in the gym from 17, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a role model, working with a personal trainer at the time, whilst living the banking life. What began as a passion soon became my profession, as I realised I could help others on their own fitness journeys by becoming a personal trainer and coach.

Then, as I approached 36, working at Cavendish Clinic, I discovered a skin analysis machine. That was a turning point for my skin. Suddenly, I saw my own skin concerns, hidden beneath the surface. From that moment, I built a structured skin regimen and was introduced to microneedling. I was hooked. I am trained, qualified, and now I share that knowledge to help others achieve balanced, healthy skin.

During my time in senior leadership, with long hours and constant stress, energy became a major challenge. Balancing a demanding career with my commitment to the gym, I quickly realised that prioritising my energy wasn’t optional—it was essential. For me, the key to a better life is energy: change your energy, change your life.

At MAPT, we focus on understanding your energy levels by discussing lifestyle habits and stress factors. I help boost your energy through tailored supplementation and treatments such as Vitamin B12 injections, which provide a short-term boost. While not a permanent solution, these interventions, which I call a ‘jump start’, create a domino effect, helping you regain energy that positively impacts all areas of your life.

A practitioner/director built from experience, not theory

With over 15 years’ experience in health, fitness, coaching and aesthetics, Ed Harbourne has built his career across both clinical and commercial sides of the industry. Most recently, he served as a director within a multi-site aesthetic clinic chain operating across the UK and USA under the Cavendish Group, overseeing teams, operations, service development, and commercial performance.

But MAPT was not built from titles or job roles — it was built from experience.

Experience across body, mind, and performance

Alongside aesthetics and fitness, Ed has continuously explored personal development through mindfulness, coaching, hypnotherapy, and behavioural change work.

This combination has shaped a broader understanding: transformation is not just physical — it is psychological, behavioural, and energetic.

Why MAPT exists

MAPT was created from a clear realisation: Ed’s strongest impact comes from helping others achieve the same transformation he has worked through himself.

It brings together skin, hair, body, and energy into a focused, structured approach for men who want to improve how they look, feel, and perform.

The philosophy

MAPT is not about overcomplication. It is about:

  • Improving skin quality and ageing outcomes

  • Supporting hair health and density

  • Optimising body composition and confidence

  • Enhancing daily energy and performance

It is a practical system built on lived experience, clinical exposure, and continuous learning.

Final THOUGHTS

MAPT represents a shift from industry noise to clarity — combining lived experience with professional expertise to deliver measurable transformation for men who want to take control of how they age, perform, and present themselves.
